Matter, time and the duality of perception

“Crack of Light” examines the interaction between time, materiality and the durability of the core. Pumice mortar, oil paints and fluorescent pigments create works that only reveal their full meaning in changing light conditions.

The rough surface stands for an external form that changes over time: Cracks and fractures arise as a result of processes, resistance and impact – not as decay, but as an evolution of the structure. Following Kintsugi, the fracture becomes the carrier of a new aesthetic.

An inner layer remains untouched beneath the drawn shell. The change of light – in normal light, in the dark or under black light – shifts the focus: the crust recedes and the glow makes visible what has survived in secret.
